Joe Cattleson
Talk about special! Joe Cattleson was the son of Bill and Mary Cattleson. Everything about him and was given to him was special. Joe’s very dedicated parents spent every minute of every day with him to make sure that he grew up a best cowboy. As a result he became the world’s strongest, fastest, and smartest cowboy in the world!
It just seemed like a normal day for Joe until he heard that his mom had gone the East to get a job! To stomp all his anger out he went to Wild Gulch with his dad. Seemed like a normal day until a wild steer appeared. Without thinking Joe ran circles around the steer and smashed him into the ground! He was just a 10 years old boy!! Soon words got around and he, Joe Cattleson, was the most famous person in all of Texas!
Soon it was clear to Joe and his family, become cowpokes or go broke. So they traded the house for a covered wagon and a herd of cattle. Joe was so famous there was already a team there. Joe knew in his heart this was a good idea!
Everyone knew Joe already had a sneaky plan, yet no one knew what it was. Joe’s plan was to give the cattle lots of energy by having them eat sugar and sleep for a straight week. The moment all 1 million awoke they crossed Texas faster than Joe could! One even ran so fast, he went into the sky and became Taurus! People are amazed by his talents and Joe became a very rich man. Then he bought 2 houses so he could live in one and his parents in another. As everybody knows this is where the real adventure starts.
Seemed like Joe would never be a true cowboy. This is because he didn’t have a horse. He started losing hope until one day. He saw the perfect horse that was just like him. The only catch was he was too fast for even Joe to catch. Yet the stallion stopped. He turned around and ran to Joe as if the horse knew him forever. At that exact moment Joe knew his horse’s name was Lightning Bolt because that’s what he ran like. They teamed up and formed a very close bond. They did everything together.
There was a twister named El Diablo and he was truly evil. Recently he had sucked up the entire cattle population and was working up the energy to tear every longhorn apart. Already, the nation was starving and cowpokes everywhere, including Joe were left unemployed. Now it was up to Joe and Lightning Bolt to set things right.
There was only one solution to the problem and as usual, Joe had it. He secretly ran around at night gathering all the pepper he could find. Then he and Lightning Bolt ran straight into El Diablo and dumped all the pepper at him. “Ah-chou!” the twister sneezed gigantically, all the cattle flew into the stars and Joe and Thunder Bolt flew across the nation. Now Joe needs his parents’ help.
Joe went to his parents’ house and being completely calm. They handed 3 things to Joe. The first thing was a golden telescope that could find a fly in a mineshaft. The second thing was a silver lasso that could easily lasso the sun. The third thing was something Joe could not see, but it mattered. It was the love, from everyone. With all of his gifts, he would finish his quest or die trying.
After that he was never seen again. Once a while you hear people talking about they may have seen Joe and Lightening Bolt, but no one seem to be able to get a good look. The only way Joe locates the lost cattle in the sky is by using the stars. This is hard because he can only search at dark starry nights. As the legend goes “the so called shooting stars are really a longhorn that Joe has found, lassoed and brought back to Earth.”
